Background Information: Earth's Climate Systems
Earth's Climate System is divided up into 6 individual components, which are -Atmosphere
(made of layers that surround Earth)
-Hydrosphere (includes all water on and around Earth) -Cryosphere (sub-sphere of hydrosphere; includes all frozen water on the planet) -Lithosphere (includes the crust and upper mantle of Earth and all their components) -Biosphere (all living things) -Sun (powers all systems in the climate system) The Sun is the powerhouse of the climate system and provides all energy to Earth. However, this energy is not distributed evenly, so the energy is dispersed around the world using both the hydrosphere and the atmosphere. The lithosphere, biosphere, and cryosphere all all also affect how this energy is processed in different ways. This energy dispersion is what causes weather, and climate is the regular pattern of weather in areas due to factors from parts of Earth's Climate System. This section will discuss, in some detail, the components that make up Earth's Climate System. |
